My Van Needs to be Maintainable

Ry, my 2022 Thor Rize campervan, (now for sale) started out as a Ram Promaster but was converted to a campervan by Thor Motor Coach in their Indiana factory.

A company like Thor can do a lot of things that smaller builders and custom builders cannot do at a reasonable price. For example, the floor of the wet bath in the Thor Rize is perfectly shaped to fit around the Thretford cassette toilet.

The downside of that type of fit and finish is that if you want to remove the cassette toilet and replace it with a separating toilet you need to replace the entire bathroom floor.

Custom fittings like that also make repairs more difficult. Twice, I had a leak in the van caused by a hose connection shaking loose. In both cases the fix was extremely simple, grab the connector and screw it on a little bit tighter.

However, in both cases, the loose hose was behind a custom fit wall and required removing two dozen screws, and lowering the ceiling to get to it.

My van needs to be maintainable.

This is one of the reasons I am selling my campervan. It doesn’t meet all of my needs. For example, my van needs to be stealthy.
