My Van Needs to Be Stealthy

RV indicators

People who sleep in their vehicles are unwelcome in a lot of places.

The more urban the area is and the closer it is to dense vacation spots the more people will be on the lookout for people sleeping in vehicles and making an effort to git rid of them.

A lot of the uses of my van in my van life dream involve camping in urban areas and near popular vacation spots.

There is a lot you can do and a lot I did do to avoid getting hassled. But it all boils down techniques to avoid people noticing that you are sleeping in a vehicle.

It would help if my vehicle looked less like a vehicle that people sleep in. But Ry, my 2022 Thor Rize campervan, (now for sale) looks very much like an RV.

Blackout shades help, though I wish they were integrated with the windows.

A bulkhead divider behind the cab might help too.

Replacing the roof fan and air conditioner with lower-profile alternatives helped a little.

But from outside the solar panel, AC, and vents are clearly visible on the roof. Multiple connectors, doors, and exhausts are visible on the side along with the Rize badge and RV insignia.

My van needs to be stealthier.

This is one of the reasons I am selling my campervan. It doesn’t meet all of my needs. For example, my van needs external storage.
